RE: Business Use of Coach and taxes

Actually Skip, I try to be helpful and give pertinent info that I know for sure is the rule, however, some people continue to post false info and then want to argue about it. When I post something, it is legal and pertinent to the question. I know for sure that what I post is true and accurate, and continue to see false stuff posted. After 32 years in the legal profession, I make sure I know what I say, before I say it. Can others please do the same?
If the company takes a depreciation, then they can certify a dividend to the owner and then it becomes tax exempt , so to speak. Check that out with your tax attorney. And one more time, if you use the rv for business and its primary reason is for business, as it should be, and you keep careful records of the use and travels, it is 100 percent a writeoff. And up to 250 grand , it is one year do able. No depreciation, and anytime you wish to give it to yourself, it is also doable. Check with a good tax attorney who knows what business and fulltiming is all about.
If an executive of a corp, takes a trip, and the company pays all the expenses, does the executive have to claim that as income? Nope. The same applies to a rv and business use.
Actually this forum or any forum is not a good place to discuss taxable items.

RE: Furnace will not light. Help needed, it is getting cold!

Sounds like a blip in the gas line . Disconnect at the valve and see if you got gas coming in. If you do, then you need to slap the valve a time or two lightly and try to unclog the thing.
I hope you know that you can call Atwood on their 800 number for troubleshooting.

RE: I20 Dallas to Atlanta in Late November

Stop at the casino in Vicksburg and overnight in their parking lot.
Stop at the lake in Ala and overnight in the parking lots.
Stop at the Rest stop on the Ala, Ga line and overnight, nice place.
There are many places to stop, if you look. There are many closed shops, stores, malls, McDonalds, etc where we have overnighted 100s of times on that route.

Be careful, Lake Tawakoni, Tex, one of the most desired locations in N and E texas, is C L O S E D , for the winter. HUH? They have NEVER done this before. Makes one wonder what is next?
Why would they close a very popular preserve ?

RE: Daytona Turkey Run Camping

International rv park on Internation blvd, west of I-95 has dry camping in the back of their huge park. That is the place for the cars. Like above, the park is a show in itself during the run. Or you could use Nova Family campground on Herbert st, Port Orange, it is as close to dry camping as you will find.

FWIW, it is estimated that 70-80 percent of "socially accepted drug free testing" , is failed by holders of CDLs. Strange aint it?

RE: full time for a couple years??

We lived in our rv for 31 years, living and working in every state. In 2000 we (actually her) decided she and I needed a home. So we bought some land in North Georgia mountains, built a Home and Garden house, spent our next 3 1/2 years working 5 days a week on it, upkeep, maintenance, paint, adding on, you name it , we did it to that house.
Both woke up one morning, looked at each others eyes, and said "What the hell are we doing"?
Put that sucker up for sale that very day, took 3 weeks to get rid of the stuff we had bought , bought a new rv , sold the anchor around our neck, and I aint a looking back.

RE: Charging for pets

Very basic question, deserves a very basic answer:
"What's the ratioanle behind charging for pets? Especailly cats? In fact, do people even claim an indoor cat as a pet if there is a fee for pets, since the park owners may or may not even notice?"
The ratioanle (sp) is that some pay it and the park owners have found out they can charge for it and collect.

RE: Who are the "no pets allowed" parks?

Funny?
The funniest part is we have been fulltiming with a dog for many , many years, and we have NEVER, EVER, run into the problems that some of you folks post about.
Sure makes me wonder sometimes, just where you guys go to run into all the dog problems. Oh and we have stayed at over 700 parks in those years. If you care to post what parks are a problem, I sure would like to know.

RE: SD to CA in December??????

Kids in the camper? Dude, dont do that! And I disagree. I lived in Omaha and went west a lot. In december, I would take I=35 as fast and as far south as I could, like Ft Worth and head west on I-10. I just cannot imagine being stuck for one or two days in a ice or snow storm in Nev, Co, Ut etc with them 4 kids. I have with two and it aint no fun. Why would you take the chance unless you have a time limit? SIX people in a TT for two days on the side of the road?> No thanks/ Finding fuel is your last worry. Plenty of places to stop.

RE: TEXAS CAMPING

If you are looking for a LONNNNNG TERM site, there is one that is great. HAPPY TRAILS RV PARK is mostly fulltimers and long termers. No facilities like pool, sauna, etc, but has a laundry, phone installation, cable tv and nice sites. Cheap too. It is on the bus line right outside your door to everywhere.
Kid and pet friendly, nice old man who runs the place too.

RE: Cable hook up

I run my business on the puter from my rv and have for 30 years. I have never been in a park where the local phone company would NOT install a phone line for us. I always make calls in advance to have phone lines installed before I arrive. Takes a little time and effort, but you can get phone service anywhere, if you stay more than a week or two. I run computer, phone, fax machine and tv satelite.
Some business MUST be on a phone line and I dont expect everyone to understand why.

RE: 84 Jamboree- 92 Jayco

A 1992 Jayco, most likely cost 28,000 new , if that much. It is 18 years old. How much depreciation do you expect in an 19 year old rv? Unless it was parked in a garage, taken very good care of and has less than 10,000 miles on it, it could not possibly be worth more than 4,000 dollars. You can get a 5 year old for 20,000, why blow your money. If you dont have the 20,000, consider savings until you do, then get your monies worth.
